I was raised on both of these properties, and they are two of my fave characters from both, so even better... and with Kevin and Juan onboard I was set.

I did two versions, with alternate colours, only subtle things, like Panthro's wrist and bands are blue, and Trapjaws skull belt is all green... little things like that, just differences from the action figure versions and the cartoons (200x and classic).

A little sequential practice for me seeing as i'm back on doing a few pages here and there at the moment (deadlines are back, dammit)!

I've seen almost everyone on DA tackle this page at some point or another, so i'm kind of late to the party. I snagged it when Mark Morales posted the inks ages back, but just never got round to colouring it up until I saw the flats were available from Trinity Mathews .

Only took a few hours, which was a nice surprise, hardest part was probably deciding on what to do with the lighting, that flare in the last panel (top left) threw me right off, considering how bright it is, and that its not the Sun (i'm a realist for shit like that!).

I've seen almost everyone on DA tackle this page at some point or another, so i'm kind of late to the party. I snagged it when Mark Morales posted the inks ages back, but just never got round to colouring it up until I saw the flats were available from Trinity Mathews .

Only took a few hours, which was a nice surprise, hardest part was probably deciding on what to do with the lighting, that flare in the last panel (top left) threw me right off, considering how bright it is, and that its not the Sun (i'm a realist for shit like that!).

This is a digital painting I finished recently of my buddy Al, doing his stupid face at a bowl of jelly (he loves his jelly!).

Used a photo ref to paint and sketch from again, but I think the likeness is a lot better this time (I did spend about 2 hours getting the sketch right)... got those eyes a little better than I had before. I think the only thing I would have done again is maybe try and make him a little bulkier, he looks tiny bit thin, but it could just be the foreshortening.

Anyway, back to some pages

Used a photo ref to paint and sketch from again, but I think the likeness is a lot better this time (I did spend about 2 hours getting the sketch right)... got those eyes a little better than I had before. I think the only thing I would have done again is maybe try and make him a little bulkier, he looks tiny bit thin, but it could just be the foreshortening.

Anyway, back to some pages

This is a digital painting of my lady, Liv... just something I was doing in between bits over the last couple days. Bit of a different practice compared to the previous Logan painting.

Adults are harder than babies to get right. FACT!!

Used a Photo ref to sketch and paint from (I had to knock out her 2 pals butting in from either side), I think I captured the likeness fairly well, but the eyes are freaking me out. They look small to me, and if I overlay the photo to have a cheeky peek, they are actually BIGGER than the eyes in the photo... like a weird mind trick.

Liv seems to like it, but I think she's either biased or lying... probably both haha

Anyway, enjoying these as warm ups instead of comic stuff at the moment, lets me get a little more into an image.

Got through a nice chunk of work today, so instead of resting up and chilling out, I went and dived into a good old painted portrait of Logan. Straight up THUG life expression here haha

So, seeing as DA is an art site, I decided to do a little more than whack a photo up of my new son, Logan. I got inspired between pages, and watching speed-paints on YouTube, to try and draw something again.

Done up in just over 3 hours, start to finish. Photo reference at hand, but I did take a few liberties with the actual painting and the colours. The photo was set in a dark room with a lamp on the floor, whilst he lay on my chest, I amped the colour choices up, and the lighting. Nothing too fancy, kind of a medium between time and quality for me, but great to get back to more traditional painting I guess.

I'll prob try and do a few more of these, one each month maybe to document his changing face

Nice little commission colours over the fantastic inked work of Dave Stokes , I simple can't get enough of this type of brushwork on the inks lately, and Dave does it so well.

And all done pretty much in a day (but spread it out over 3 days around some pages). There's actually 4 versions of this piece... this was the original and the version I tend to like the most, basically just due to the background.
