Dog

Did this for my family. A Father's Day surprise.
This is an interpretation of that thing on the Sistine Chapel where God asks Adam to pull his finger.
Of course, instead of making them lovely, fleshy creatures, I put two of my family's dog's heads on them.
Molly (left) is supposedly a maltese, but I think she looks like a muppet.
Oliver (right) is a yorkshire terrier.
I chose these dogs among the six that they own because they are my father's favorites.
Took a long, long time- took a lot out of me. Glad to be done.
This is prismacolor markers, watercolor paint, & white paint marker on watercolor paper.

This is an A3 drawing on Canson card, using three widths of Rotring Rapidographs. This took approximately 15 hours to complete, and having done so, I am now more confident in producing large format surrealistic drawings in ink. And, yes, that lady has got six fingers on her left hand!

" The construction of stone stairs is the name given in place of archaeological remnants sometimes referred to as the G area in the oldest part of Jerusalem. Curved, 18 meters high on the stairs, a narrow stone structure consisting of a series of terraces. Adjacent to the north side of the original city walls.

The design has been discovered during the excavations carried out a series of successively by RAS Macalister in 1920, Kathleen Kenyon in 1960 and Yigal Shiloh during 1970-80. Age structure is estimated at the beginning of the second Iron Age (1000-900 BC.)."

The information I found about the stairs well mach to this work but it is not about the object I used to make a collage.. I dicede to put it here bc tt was intrestng Hope you don't mind^^

I decided to put a lot of stairs to that project bc they are symbolic of how many of us want to be on top, and how many of us thinks to be on it is the most important thing, well I think the most important is a way to the top, that we have to deal with every obstacle to be a better person, and bc when I do that project i was thinking more about how dificult in our world is to not lose soul and hope in generally.

I combine a face and architectual object.
Of course that is not original view on the object, I was inspired by the Temple of Jerusalem
( the same as last time, the model its also the same... big thank you to him)

I use collage plus drawing and knife.

I was walking outside and this idea came to me all of a sudden... I almost lost my footing. then I drew it over coffee (as usual) but didn't realize I was using ball-pen - which by the way is amazing, but hard to preserve especially when mixing with soft pencils - you need to fix the pencils (spray or lamination) but the pen spreads on the paper making the lines a bit too strong in some cases... so yeah, this might not be for sale in the original form unless I put it in a plastic or glass case
the morale of this is to always use pigment ink pens (although sometimes I prefer the feel of ball-pen sliding on paper)
you can see now why I'm very grateful for scanners

So I'm painting for 3 years now and my "real" first illustration ever (the one that started it all for me) was "at the mountain of madness" inspired image from the Lovecraft universe...

but time has passed and I felt I had to fix it in numerous ways as it was full of errors mainly in composition and painting technique...
thing is that it's still powerfull in it's mood so it deserved a full rework, I think I got it way better this time while keeping the strong feeling it has...you tell me.

Eddy Howard Smith - 1978 Pencil Derawing (18"X24")

My brother Eddy Howard Smith drew approximately 400-500 drawing between 1979 and 1980. He changed to photography in 1980 until his death in 1982 at the age of 36. The majority of his photography has been destroyed but around 350 of his drawings remain with the family.

I will periodically post his drawings to show his amazing talent.
