Ps. the weird, yellowish shapeless glob was supposed to look like mashed potatoes feel free to laugh at me is mayonnaise. It was originally meant to look like mayonnaise and I successfully reproduced it, rather accurately I may add. Not that I want to brag or anything.*

As the title may have suggested , the movie I chose is Grease.
I love musicals and the 50's are my favourite decade, so it makes sense that Grease is one of my all-time favourite movies!

I tried to reproduce the scene in which all the Greasers and Pink Ladies meet up at the local diner, the Frosty Palace. Click here for a screen cap!


Technical breakdown:
Everything shown was handmade in a 1:6 scale; more specifically..

Burgers are made with polymer clay and coloured with chalks and acrylic paints. Click here for WIP pictures!

French Fries are also made with polymer clay and coloured with chalks. Click here for the DIY tutorial!

Tray, plates, mustard and ketchup were all made with clay and subsequently varnished.

Milkshakes are made of casting resin (base and cup), silicone (whipped cream) and paper clips (straws). Click here for WIP pictures!

Frosty Palace's Menu was designed in Corel Photopaint. I've used this illustration for the snowman on the cover, and a scan from this site for the inside menu.

Cigarettes are made of clay and painted with acryilic paints, while the cigarette box was designed in Corel Photopaint. Click here for close-ups!

For the table, I used a square of thin plastic, painted it with black and silver acrylic paints to get the marble effect, and varnished it; lastly, I've placed it on top of a silver cardstock base.

But I'm so fond of this recipe that I had to share!
Brownies are one of my all-time favourite desserts; and when I stumbled upon a Shortbread Brownies recipe I loved the idea so much that I adapted my own "version" of brownies (orange flavoured, with nuts/pistachios) to it.

The result is delicious!! The only downside is that the calories count is ridiculously high... but they taste so good that they're worth the additional pilates session

Pandoro was an 'experiment' and it didn't really turned out as I hoped.
Bottle was a little experiment, too, and it took me 3 failed attempts to get this one. It still needs alot of perfectioning.. and I wish I had some kind of air-dry resin (?) instead of liquid Fimo

My attention was captured by this deviation and the tutorial linked in it. I love the idea of "corner" bookmarks made out of envelopes!

Of course, I gave the idea my own 'twist': instead of book-eating monsters, I went for summery kites flying through your book pages! (and that's where the name comes from. Book + kite = bookite!! I'm delirious. )

The Salt'N'TLS tecnique (ouch. Now I can't stop singing "Push It" in my head. Ehm.. ) turned out to be just as awesome as it seemed!
Next time I'm going to try and use even more salt. I didn't use too much since I was afraid it would 'melt' when I varnished it (it didn't ).

They're slightly big for a 1:6 scale - I made a couple of them into charms and I'm planning to turn the latest into a pin, or a magnet. Not sure yet

I picked the baguettes since she's recently fallen in love with them, and a bowl of homemade pesto we made with the basil that she has grown.
To complete the set, a tiny handmade card embellished with a garden-themed Sarah Kay's stamp, a small shovel and a custom-made gardening magazine.
The magazine's inner pages are "readable". I took several pictures of her flowers and used them for the magazine's mini editorials!

My idea of a perfect picnic? By the lake, during spring - when the weater is nice and breezy - along with a couple of girlfriends.

As for the food.. well, everyone has a favourite, right?
So here we have three different dishes for three different girls: there's the one who's perpetually on diet - a salad and some fruit for her; there's the sweet tooth - pb&j sandwiches and cookies for her; and, last but not least, the lucky one who can eat whatever she wants - an hamburger and french fries for her!


Technical babbling -
Everything shown is handmade in a 1:6 scale.
All the food was made with polymer clay and partially coloured with chalks and acrylic paints.
The basket is made with cord and ribbon; the magazines with standard 80gr paper (yes - I've actually designed the covers, ads and inner pages using pictures of my Barbie dolls. I'm slightly obsessed ).

So here's my take - they're supposed to be broken, heart shaped Digestive cookies, if that makes any sense!
These are just the prototypes, I'm planning to make more/different versions (I'd really like Linzer cookies!) ...If only I had more spare time

I've never worked on such a big scale (approx. 1:2) and I still have to practice.. I have to admit I'm not 100% satisfied with the final outcome, but hopefully I'll improve!
Any suggestion?
