I had this little dream....to meet a fox some day.
Not only spotting him from a far distance, not catching only a glimpse of his tail, but really seeing one.
And secretly I hoped that on that day, I might be able to take some nice photograps, too.
And very very secretly I hoped I would find this fox in a beautiful, natural environment and I guess I must have had some very secret fantasies about finding a fox in the snow.
But, realizing that both foxes and snow are not the most common thing here, I knew this perfect combination would be quite a challenge to find and it might take a while to realize this dream.

This week, a colleague photographer and I and I decided to try our luck and went to a beautiful Dutch dune area.
Although the whole country was covered with snow at that moment, we managed to find one of the few snowless spots.
The nature was gorgeous nonetheless, the weather was perfect and we had a great time, so we didn't really miss the snow.

All of a sudden, totally against all weather forecasts, it started to snow like it would never end.
In two hours the green trees and yellow sheer disapeared under 15 cm white blanket and we found ourselves in a undescribably beautiful world. (and we managed to find our way back through all this whiteness, too )

And then,just when we least expected it...a fox popped out of the bushes and came walking out of the forest right towards us...! It had gotten cloudy at this time and it was still snowing heavily, so although my photos could have been a higher quality, this magical scene is burned in my memory for ever....}

_{Worst image quality ever, noisy as can be and waaaay to far away for my lens, but dispite the poor quality it brings back happy memories.
This is a very percious moment to me since the foxes were enjoying theirselves without paying any attention to me.
I'm sure they must have been aware of my presence, but since I was far away they weren't disturbed at all....just doing their foxy thing.
And I like that. A lot.

PS. Not sure about the title. The young fox is showing off to his mom "Look mom, what I can do!", but I don't know what this kind of behaviour is called in English.}

I hope you're not getting bored with my foxes...
I know I never will.....it as such a pleasure to have a chance to see them.

I've always had this weak spot for foxes (who hasn't?!), but since I had the opportunity to see a little more of them them, I've become quite addicted.
Up until now, a fox was just a fox...a gorgeous and mysterious animal, but I never realised that foxes can differ so much in colour and personality.
Some are so shy, while others are really curious, some are a bit red greyish, while others have almost orange fur....
I love this foxy world and I can understand why foxes are the main subject of so many stories and legend....they somehow get under your skin}

_{I've seen several foxes the past months and I'm rather fascinated by the variety in looks...
I mean...tigers might have slightly different faces, but foxes seem to have a completely individual appearance....
Some have pointy beaks, some have very hairy ears, some have strange eyebrows...some have an orange fur, some wear a greyish coat.
The colour of they eyes varies from yellow to red to greyish...
I wonder how this this worked evolutionary...}

_{Foxes can be extremely shy and run of long before you even spotted them. But they're also very intelligent and...very curious....
So if you are very quiet they might come towards you to see what is is exactly you're doing in their territory...
And if they don't consider you as a threat...they sometimes might come really really close.....
And just when you get enthusiastic you make an unexpected movement and the fox will disappear as quickly as he came...

_{I hope I'm not boring you with my foxes-in-the-snow.
I had never seen a fox from up close in my life and meeting a fox in the snow seemed like quite a challenge.
But past weeks it had been snowing a lot -which is a pretty rare thing here- , so this was the moment to grab my chances...
I walked hours and hours through the freezing cold to find them and maybe you can imagine that I was really happy when I did.
And personally I don't think I will ever get tired of these fantastic animals, so be prepared for more}
