We thought about it for a while and decided to use a special kind of axle from old forest industry machine. The shape of the axle allowed to forge relatively easily the lily-like cup and cuff. Legs from normal steel bar. Usually anvils like this are made from mild steel and thus are not suitable for hard materials (steel etc.) I also dislike handheld ring triblets and wanted a firmly mounted one so the only option was to make it by myself. That&#039;s why I got long ago an idea of protective case and they&#039;re indeed sold by Apple, but the prices are quite steep for such a simple product, so I decided to make a metallic case of my own.<br />
<br />
Starting material was 0,5 mm brass sheet, which I formed into 2 halfs of the case and soldered with silver on the sides. I also glued on the inside an artificial leather sheet to protect the ipod from scratching. The surface is textured with jeweler&#039;s hammer for additional &#039;character&#039;, and polished to high degree.<br />
<br />
The strange thing is that my iPod is already all scratched due to daily usage of two years, and now I decided to make a protective case with mirrorlike surface... Gufihtar made the model for casting, I did the molding, casting, backplate and most of the cleanup after casting.<br />
