New Years winter forest

Hi all,

This is my first keeper of the year. I went for a 15 mile hike to loose some of the cookies I ate during the Christmas time . The fog, absolute isolation, quietness gave it a little extra touch. Please enjoy.

Icebergs on the black volcanic sand beach, and stormy Icelandic weather created a great time and place to be for some good photography. I took over 50 shots of this setting to make sure I stopped all the movement at least on one of them.

Lost world

Far away from the roads and people. I followed huge canyon and found number of waterfalls which were just amazing. The whole place felt like I traveled thru the time back in the prehistoric era. This one was just perfect.

Skoga river canyon at midnight

This canyon is one of the wildest things I have ever hiked around. There are number of huge waterfalls, and two large volcanoes at the top of the hike. Of course it is also an entrance into the wild interior as well. The weather is definitely Icelandic as well The strange thing was that all the way ...up I was hiking pretty much alone in rainy/sunny conditions, but once I was on my way back I have met well over 100 locals just going for "night" hike just for the fun of it. Well they have a nice tradition for sure, and since they invited me to join and shared their local food and drinks as well, I would rated that night as the best experience from Iceland.

"The one"

The reason why I am calling this "The One" is simply because from all of the photos I have from this place I like this one the most. Actually I still remember the feeling I had when I took this photo, the way I was excited, felt alive, and also little frustrated because the light was changing so fast that morning. Anyway I am happy with the result even thou the web version is little strong in reds. For processing I have used only my actions (digital velvia, contrast, web presenter, with minor light selections). I hope that the result will give you at least a little bit of the feeling that I have experienced there.

Not so Delicate Arch

I just returned from 30 day long outing in Southwest US before my return to Euro. I had some great time, and hopefully I didn't fail to capture some of the light I witnessed in the field. This is one image that I was hoping to capture for years. Delicate Arch is well known and photographed "Icon". About 10 years ago I was there and this big storm rolled in, and ever since I was hoping to capture something similar with my camera. Many times I have hiked up there only to have empty blue sky, but this time I finally got my reward. Big clouds, lightning, wind (record winds with gusts up to 70 MPH), all of the good stuff happened, and believe me it was quite scary at times, but at the end I sucked it up, and this is my reward.

Living Dunes

Fairly unknown dunes illuminated with first light of the day. The dunes are originally pink - red color, so the saturation went really crazy with the first light. Most challenging part was composition, but I really like the result.
