These mystifying clouds are called Polar Mesospheric Clouds, or PMCs, when they are viewed from space and referred to as "night-shining" clouds or Noctilucent Clouds, when viewed by observers on Earth. The clouds form in an upper layer of the Earth’s atmosphere called the mesosphere during the Northern Hemisphere’s summer season which began in mid-May and extends through the end of August and are being seen by AIM’s instruments more frequently as the season progresses. They are also seen in the high latitudes during the summer months in the Southern Hemisphere.
I was suppose to post this shot even before i decided to make the poll, but somehow i got distracted. Anyways, here it is, new addition to the construction yard series i have been posting, see 'Under Construction' and 'Night Shift'.
140 sec exposure with external flash shot multiple times. I recall shooting the flash 5 times from the left side and 2 times from right side during the exposure. The site didn't have any lighting at all, except those coming from over the distance.

It was almost one hour after midnight and the sky was clear, only few clouds drifted by every now and then.

Since i had just been nightshooting the night before, I decided to do some experimenting with different kinds of night shooting methods. Here i used ISO 400 to get more stars to show up while trying to keep the exposure time short enough for the stars not to move too much. I didn't need any extra light sources since the full(ish) moon was already casting amazing light over the construction site.
