As a swing for #DisneyDreamers Secret Santa Project, I had done one swing when I got the second assignment for ~Neosun7 in February. She likes a variety of characters, and Merida is one of them. She wanted a "Display of Style", which I worked to do here. This is Merida watching a TV Show about SuperBowl Commercials in an Ad for a Media Store. When I got the assignment it took a few days for me to figure out what I'd do, write the general idea and then get started. It took me a month to get everything drawn and colored in, especially since I had to chuck the first panel and start over after messing up the coloring. My health issues caused delays as well, so I do apologize for this being more for Easter than Christmas.

The drawing paper used by Strathmore is partially made with recycled materials; 80 lb 18" x 24" (45.7 x 61 cm).
Media used: Prismacolor Markers, Bic and Sharpie Markers (including a silver metal), Pentel and Uniball Gel Pens, Pentel Metal Markers and a #3H Berol pencil for drawing.

I took pictures of the work and there is some color bleed. I tried to correct the while balance and some of the color bleed in PhotoShop Elements 9, but hopefully when the weather turns nice and there is a bright, sunny day where I can take pictures outside, I can redo the contact sheet.

Merida is laughing at the show about SuperBowl Commercials in this ad "Storyboard" and is asked (person off-stage) at what she is laughing.

Second Pane:

Merida, "I am watching a show about commercials... best SuperBowl Commercials."

Voice off-stage, "Wait, you're watching a show... an entire show... of ADS???" Uhhh, are there commercials between the ummm, commercials?"

Third and Fourth Panes:

Merida, "Of Course!"

Merida hears screeching music coming from the TV and she gasps and stands up right in front of the TV.

Fifth Pane:

Merida is asked by the person off-stage what was happening.

Merida explains, "A huge TV just appeared out of thin air!"

Sixth Pane:

Off-Stage Voice, "What?"

Merida, "A brand-new, HD-3D Insight... it... it just appeared during a commercial for THIS TV!!"

Off-Stage Voice, "Great!"

Merida exclaims, "But where... how... the old TV is GONE ~ the new TV is... is in the same spot..."

Off-Stage Voice, "Must be the new in-house service from "Beyond Great - Purchase Emporium". Their slogan is 'You Think it We Bring It."!

Merida brightens at the explanation and the Ad ends as the TV Commercial finishes its pitch.

She lives out in the country so cats are attracted to her house since she has other kitties and food is always in the garage. She could hear his painful meows and went outside to try and lure him him. She was able to catch him, clean him up and bring him inside for feeding.

Having always wanted a Siamese, we went to pick him up and brought him home. We got him to the vet where he was tested for Feline Leukemia and other things, as well as getting his shots and having him fixed.

Ming thrived for a few years but got sick again. After being at the ER for animals (open at night), he was transferred to the personal vet and was in and out a few times before getting better. He seemed to be back to his irascible self when he got sick again around Thanksgiving in the US. He was at the Vet's for a few days and got fluids, medication and had tests done. The vet thought Ming had Intestinal Lymphoma but didn't test for cancer, instead testing for many other things. When Ming was picked up all we knew was that he had had an infection. After another week of steroids and antibiotics he slowly got better and started to ask for his favorite canned food (he would go over to where it was kept and look at it then look at me, then look at the food, then look at me, so it was obvious what he was asking for), playing and wanting laps and beds.

Then he took a turn for the worse this past Monday early AM and within two days he had slowly passed away. Steve put him in the kitty bed, but he got out and slowly made his way, inches at a time over the nigh, to under the chair in the dining where he loved to lay. For some odd reason he loved being under chairs or the couch.

Storm got up on the chair where Ming lay and didn't move until after he passed. Simba was just a foot away. Steve and I watched him as he took his last breath, so Ming was never alone.

He was around seven or eight-years old, the vet saying he could have been two or three when he was found. Stitch really liked being outside, too, so it was lucky the kitties had been kept inside for days due to Hurricane Sandy smashing into a nor'easter creating high winds and daily rain in NE Ohio. The reason it was lucky is that Stitch passed away on the kitchen floor inside instead of out in the wooded area in the back. This way we knew he had passed and could take care of him instead of realizing he simply disappeared.

This picture was taken just days ago when he got on the bed and made himself at home. He loved sleeping on a bed, especially if someone laid down with him for a nap. He was only 13-years and had belonged to our son, Christopher, so Stitch was our last vestige to Christopher, who passed-on 11 1/2 years ago. In August of 1999, when Stitch was just a kitten weighing ounces, he was being abused by the boyfriend of a friend of Chris'. He snapped Stitch up and brought him home, which wasn't the first time Christopher had saved an animal from a situation that may have resulted in early death for the animal.

My heart is just broken. Stitch didn't appear sick in any way, didn't lose his appetite nor was he fussy. He simply walked into the kitchen and dropped over. He had some blood coming from his mouth, so we think he had a stroke, which would be a reason he passed away quickly.

Bless his heart

He will truly be missed.

Jane Emerson Jones Leath: November 13, 1951 ~ June 19, 2012

Jane was born on November 13th and I was born on November 29th. My mom took me to see my new friend and took our picture. The top picture is a digital "clean-up" and the bottom is the original scanned in (if anyone knows of a tutorial on fixing vintage photos I would appreciate the link).

In just over a decade, Jane had breast cancer twice and bone cancer. She fought valiantly just retiring from her teaching job of 37-Years in Johnstown, Ohio where we both attended school ourselves. She was a kindergarten teacher and much loved by the community. Jane had her first grandchild this year, born to her son, Kris. A little girl.

My Condolences to her husband, Wes, and her two married children, Katie and Kristopher

Jane is my oldest friend. I have many memories of our times together. May she rest in peace

I again held down the stylus on the "to" bar until the paste option appeared then pasted the Sta.sh email address on to it (do wish I could figure out how to copy longer text). View from my back porch. Just for fun, I loaded a bunch of pictures into St*sh and could not believe how quickly they loaded! Now I'll have to experiment with St*sh a bit and figure out how to take full advantage of it. I am amazed just how easy it is to post once the picture is loaded into St*sh. Probably should have done this on my stock site, but oh well! Need to practice somewhere.

Now that thumbs can be used in ALL journals, the advantage of a Premium Subscription will be added storage space in St*sh (10 GB versus 2), Skins and perusing galleries up to 120 deviations without ads

I had to use a flash to get a decent picture and it reflected off some of the metal markers I used to color. For some reason, I just love metal markers! Also used graphite pencils and Prismacolor paint markers. ]]>

The Kitty and the Autumn Leaves are clip-arts posted on my stock site. Both were redone and enhanced for this project, so I replaced those files.

Linda ~Fubelle had purchased the pretty material then I took two different scrub tops that she currently owns and turned them inside out and used them as a "make-do" pattern. Each scrub top is a little different from the other. One has separate sleeves and wide, single-pockets then the other the top and sleeves are one piece then the pockets have a second pocket inside each pocket.

The pockets are sewn into the side seams and into the hem. This makes them very sturdy.

I spent a few days working on them. The material is really pretty, especially the "Easter Eggs" that have a glittery look.

Parts of the skull were darkened in, but when my printer was done, they didn't take and I had to recolor them a couple times to get them dark enough. My ink jet bit the dust, so until I get another I have to use the Laser. Laser printers are way too fast to do a great job printing lineart!

Made as an example for the "Trash to Treasure" contest. Taking an old T-Shirt my daughter wore for many years and didn't want to give up, I cut off the sleeves, repainted the Brutus Buckeye Mascot dressed as a Hockey Player (The Ohio State University) by using Sharpie© Paint Pens and Markers. The flash on the camera caused some of the black to look washed out.

I tried to salvage the crew top but it was too worn. I found a piece of biased-tape ribbing to make a "crew" look at the top. I found a bag of stuffing from a project from who knows when, then stitched it closed.

The chair just happened to be salvaged a few years ago by taking it apart and putting a piece of material over the worn cushion and putting plastic over it since the material is cotton and a bit thin.

LEVEL FOUR

Back story: In the Halls of Justice, the newly arrived take turns as Astraia, Goddess of Justice, seeks information from the Akashic Records*** regarding the arrivals' lives. She does NOT pass judgment, she simply accepts the incoming information to see if there is a semblance of balance.

As each person lives, all that is said, all that is written and all that is done is faithfully recorded in the Akashic Records. This arrival was a Greek Warrior in life fighting bravely in many battles for the King. It is thought he died an honorable death in protection of the King and his people. And, indeed, he did. The question is, did the sum of his life balance the Karma he set out to deal with in life, so he can continue on his path into the next realm.

Astraia does not seek to punish or award. Those who come to her have already created their fate through the lives that they have lived. Astraia will know if balance has been achieved by the weight of the bowls that sort the incoming information. If the right bowl is slightly above level of the left bowl, then the Karma has been balanced and the spirit allowed to pass.

For the Greek Warrior there were those who despised him and faced his blade with malice and hatred. Their perception was that he was evil and undeserving.

There were those who met him with kindness and concern; those he fought with, studied with, learned from and shared family. Their perception was that he was an angel in armour.

Perception, however, is not truth. Because people perceive others in a certain way they may think they know "truth", but in reality such truth can only be seen at the end of a life, not during. In life, there is no truth. Only perception. And perception does NOT equal truth.

The Warrior waits at his steady, without expression, as that which he has said, that which he has written and that which he has done, creates weight within the confines of each bowl.

**ASTRAIA (or Astraea) was the Virgin-Goddess of Justice. During the Golden Age she dwelt upon the earth with mankind, but was driven away by the lawlessness of the later Bronze Age. Zeus then placed her amongst the stars as the constellation Virgo.

*Whisperwings said in her request she wondered what it would be like for the characters when the Parks closed; as if their lives continued long after the final guest left the park. The Background Story:

Belle hurriedly waved at the audience and took her last bow at the Beauty and the Beast Show at The Studios. She quickly turned on her heel and Beast snarled confusedly, "what is your hurry!"

Belle's quick retort was, "I promised to finished decorating for the cast party and I'm not done yet!"

Beast just shook his head and rolled his eyes. Pretty decorations, happy talk and silly people were not his idea of a good time.

Lumiere's eyes got big and his flame glowed higher, "I'll help you Belle!" She gave him a quick smile and a flash of a quick wink as she ducked backstage and towards the Grand Ballroom.

Once inside she quickly started to unpack the last box of ornaments. Ever the devoted "puppy", Lumiere came hopping in after her. Within minutes she finished the tree and gave the room a cursory glance to see how the decorations had turned out. Sighting an ornament that had rolled away, she picked it up, curtsied to Lumiere and said sweetly, "please good sir, would you be so kind as to give this lovely ornament a home of the tree!" Lumiere extended his candle to take on another ornament. He had already picked up a stray but would do anything for Belle. His smile simply lit up the room.

Shortly, Beast and Cogsworth arrived. Beast, looking none too happy to attend a festive party, grumpily walked into the room behind Cogsworth who with a jaunty bounce in his step, brought another ornament to Belle for the tree. Beast mumbled, I'm here but do NOT expect me to dance. Belle slipped out the side door to dress for the party. "Silly Beast," Belle thought, "he'll never admit that he cannot wait to open his gifts!"

There is a lot of color bleed in this picture and I tried to correct it. I used a flash, too even though it was daylight and some light was in the room. I took four pictures and none seem to come out really well. When I get time I'll take a closer look at the other pictures and see if I can find a bettter one. ]]>
