I apologize for the blurriness. This thing is huge and getting a decent photo was rough.

Pretty much a mash up of a lot of different works by Remington, with the artist thrown in. The background is taken from "The Scout" and extended a bit. The horseman coming down the ridge is from the bronze "The Mountain Man". I threw in Remington's artist kit also. Apparently the cowboys thought he was "fancy" because his kit was lined in red velvet. I'm sure that didn't help his reputation as a city boy. The biggest issues with this were giving the desert feeling, without it being too barren, and fitting in the mountain man close enough that you could see what it was but still keeping perspective. I'm not sure if I pulled it off.

Either way, I was really excited to do this. It was great to draw again. To make it even better, this is a father's day gift commissioned for one of my favorite people in the whole wide world. If you remember, I did a mural in the dining room of a friend's parent's. The husband kept stealing me to show me his Remington's and talk about art. He has probably some type, if not an original, of everything Remington did, but nothing of Remington himself, so his son decided to get this made for him.

The woman who ordered this was nice enough to give me the page numbers where descriptions of the circus could be found. I made the mistake of reading past those pages and completely fell in love with this book. If you have some free time, grab a copy. It's brilliant. One of the reasons why it's so good is because it's so descriptive. Great for a reader but it makes my job so much harder. I got in as much detail as I could; the fence surrounding the circus, the bonfire in the cauldron, the shape shifting clock with clouds on it's face and a juggler (who juggles a number of balls corresponding the the time - 3 o'clock = 3 balls) and the black and white stripped tents. I managed to get a circus follower with his token red scarf on there too. This has been my most time consuming piece, it's taken about two weeks off and on thanks to all those little pieces. Now my hands hurt and I'm taking a few days off...probably not but one can dream

Commissioned piece. The wing span is about 40". Each feather has been individually cut and applied. The body feathers are made from migratory maps, the wings, head, and tail feathers are made from the bird identification illustrations. There is a wire coming from the crown of the head to hang her up. I think I spent about 10 hours working, not so sure, it's hard to keep track. I'm going to try to send her a local library for a fundraising event they've invited me to participate in. I'm not sure how that will go because this really isn't my typical work. Fingers crossed they'll like her as much as I do and she'll get a lot of bids for them.

It is made from the pages of a hymnal from the 1800's.

The pages are fixed to a light weight foam board backing with attached hanging hook. The whole wreath weighs less than 1.5 pounds. Because of the age and free standing position of the pages, this wreath is fragile. It is finished with a UV coating to protect it from sun and moisture, but I would not suggest hanging it outside.

Special pricing will be made if purchasing the trio.

Available for sale.
