The handle was formed by folding back the rim of the cup, not by adding clay. My second experiment in forming a handle by folding a ribbon of the rim. Glazed Ryoko Cream and Black

Another attempt at the rimmed teacup. at this size, it's great for salsa: pleasantly weighty and just larger at the lip than a common salsa jar. Glazed Extreme Copper Blue over Mary's Pear Yellow, with Clear near the foot.

My first lidded form. The lid fits quite well and round. A small crack formed in the lip if the jar.

mixing clay bodies is serious business, this "red" brown clay didn't shrink as much as the white, causing apparent warping.

Some have said this cup's handle is upside down. I find that holding a handle tilted this way puts the wrist in a more natural/straight position than the traditional/opposite tilt. The nub gives the thumb some leverage. The cup was made large so I could make fewer trips to the break room, and holds over one American quart. The drooping character is Chinese for "small."

This teacup has a deep foot and a rim handle. Both features make it easy to hold hot. The rim handle allows you to hold it as you might a handle-less teacup even when hot. Not that you should be drinking tea that is too hot to hold

If anyone has seen this before, please send me a link. While I thought of this myself, I believe there is nothing new under the sun.

The second pot I made in the same night with #24 - this too, started as six pounds of clay, ended up about 9-10 inches green, and 8-9 inches glaze fired. The glazes, really set for testing, were a clear glaze applied to the bottom half first, then a deep red on one side, and "eggplant" on the other. I was hoping to get various shades of purple, and was quite surprised by the earthy color of the red over clear quad.

Saucer decorated with wax resistance. Pattern was drawn with wax which prevented the glaze from sticking to the covered area. Piece is light and has a spherical curve.
