Inspired by Theophany's wonderful teaser of his album, "Time's End" [link] , I took one of my favorite moments from the game, Majora's Mask, and illustrated it into a short comic strip.
(I did use the actual text, but rearranged some of it to fit the 5 panels)

Here is a short comic of the sisters, Cremia and Romani on the final night.

Edit: Fixed a few minor details that were bothering me. Also updated the image with my new username! XD

I did not fully comprehend just how much work I would be putting into this project when I first started. From planning, to announcing, sketching, painting and all, this project has taken me 6 months to complete. In the background, youll see what I envision to be a new Palace in the Twilight Realm, built after the events of Twilight Princess. Its far more secure with grand steps leading up to the entrance. If viewed from the side, it would be much longer because there are two landings in the upper and lower part of the stairs. _{Eventually Ill create a map of the Twilight Realm as I see it.} It all started because I wanted to do something bigger than the first twili project I did 2 years ago:

Did I one-up myself? I think so, lol! The final dimensions of this piece would be this:

Ending To A Legend

A LONG TIME COMING! SO yeah, really I've been wanting to flesh out this painting forever... I doodled it while I was at work one day after listening to Link to the Past music (of course!). I put off turning this into a sketch for the longest time, finally I figured I'd put it on (digital paper) but I kinda stopped after I gave it a flat color. I had in mind what I wanted to do but I never went further. THEN the random inspiration hit at 11:00pm and I went for it. I was so happy how the bg turned out I said I wasn't going to stop till it was finished. So, safe to say, even if I wind up revisiting some parts when I wake up and realize what I can fix, I'm freakin' happy it's done!

Concept is mainly based around the Link to the Past ending with my own interpretation.

Done with CS6 and lot's of Zelda music (and one really burning eye).

There´s something magical about it.
When working on a piece like this its almost like there´s a story being told with every new element I draw.

I chose the moment Hyrule gets flooded as my second choice since I wasn't sure if could finish my first-choice idea for the first deadline.
I personally love the intro of WindWaker. It's interesting how this lighthearted toony zelda game has a sad and dark backstory.
I Just really have a thing for tragic events, the hero for once not coming to save the day, no Deus ex machina, and the Triforce of courage shattering as a proof the hero is gone.
Wind Waker had some very impressive and strong Cutscenes, especially Ganondorf. He's kinda right when he says the Gods have destroyed them and him not seeing the hope that's left fits his own story as the one who always fails( sorry Ganny ^^° )
I also like a lot the theme of letting the past go etc which is also present in Majoras Mask and Links Awakening.

Erasing the past and just starting over, it's actually very close to how I imagine the backstory of Skyward Sword, it's pretty cruel too.
I like to see the goddesses(and Hylia) not only as caring and having given life to all but also as beings that have a responsibility and that know that sometimes they have to make sacrifices "for the greater good".

It was actually much more work than it looks like but that's kinda part of such styles. If they look like they have been much work it means that they are too crammed or so. If it's well done you cannot see the effort put into it giving a more harmonic feeling overall.
I was first sceptic if the picture would turn out looking epic but in the end it got better than I imagined it and I'm really satisfied with the result.
Very different than I imagined it but fitting.

I tried to keep the positions of some of the Wind Waker isles, but keep at the same time the location of the places from Ocarina of time to really make the connection that WindWaker-Hyrule is the flooded OOt-Hyrule.
I Used TP-Hyrule castle as a reference because the WW-castle is on a cliff which wouldn't have worked for the picture and only putting Oot-castle was not fitting either since it was important for me to have a Hyrule town around it.
It's an entire culture that vanished, not only one castle.
The Triforce shards add a nice touch of color.

I forgot the bubbles on the contest entry I sent in(but I'll sent the update version)
They are important to me because of the Wind Waker ending, all the different weird characters you meet in Zelda games are really something typical I love and I found it nice that the Wind Waker ending showed really every single one of them.

It's Dangerous to Go Alone

This is my rendition of the famous and often satirized scene from the The Legend of Zelda NES where you get your sword. I did this piece because I feel like though it is satirized all over the internet that this moment in the game is far more serious, perhaps even somber. It is my interpretation of the scene that the old man is a hero/warrior of days gone by but now seeing young Link on his journey unarmed and naive, he offers Link his sword, the last piece to tie him to his once grand past, in essence passing the torch to Link. My thoughts at least :/ But it is this mood that I sought to capture in the old man's weary eyes and Link's mouth agape, taken aback by the gravity of the moment.

This piece is a deviation not only in the obvious subject matter but also in style, I felt that making this one "paintier" than my last works which leaned more toward realism, somehow endowed this piece with a more regal presence, one I felt appropriate for the piece and my interpretation of it.

Battle for the Triforce III

This is a piece that I have been somewhat actively working on since October, but have had limited time due to other work. However, it is also part of a series of pieces featuring the same scene [link] My last attempt done in 2005 was lacking in many areas including overall accuracy, and I felt that with the release of Skyward Sword, all of the 25th Anniversary Legend of Zelda stuff, and the excitement of putting together my own Dungeons & Dragons-style table-top Zelda game, it was about time to show off my skills again with a revival of this project. Another thing that also contributed to the creation of this piece was the release of high-resolution official artwork from Ocarina of Time, in particular, that of Ganon [link] . I could now get the accuracy I wanted and use the talent I had been honing throughout my time at the College for Creative Studies.

I cannot even fathom the number of hours I've spent on this, but it is considerable. The Master Sword and Hylian Shield alone took at least 20 hours each. I wasn't going to settle for anything short of perfection this time around. Everything in this image I drew from the ground up except for the manipulated ground and sky textures, which were taken from photographs. I also used textures to enhance the quality of metal, leather, cloth, skin, and horns.

For the art critics looking at this, my desire was to portray the dread and anticipation of an epic battle with the King of Evil reborn as a demon. I think anyone who has played the game felt the same way when Ganondorf rose from the dead and transformed into a monstrous beast before their eyes. I've seen many other depictions of the battle that are more action-packed or stylized, but my primary goal was accuracy, providing a sense of nostalgia for that moment, and recreating it in a way that gamers imagined the battle looking in real life.

For you die-hard Zelda fans out there, you may notice a few things that are different. The Master Sword I used is the design from Twilight Princess / Skyward Sword, mostly because it just looks so much more epic and finished than the simple design from Ocarina of Time. Also, the scabbard is from the design of those games, but this is mostly due the fact that I feel that Nintendo has desired to make the new design canon (since that scabbard design is in games that take place before and after Ocarina chronologically). Link is also wearing chainmail beneath his green tunic, which I felt would probably be more likely for an adventurer who is somehow able to withstand many enemy strikes (and once again is present in TP / SS). Navi actually has a physical humanoid body, as opposed to a simple winged, glowing orb. Fairies are clearly seen to have humanoid bodies in most of the other games, as well as the Great Fairies within Ocarina, so I felt for realism's sake, Navi should have a body. I attempted to give a little bit of a "forest fairy" flair to her, similar to the Great Fairies, but lesser. And finally, I added the Gerudo symbol to the Golden Gauntlets, mostly because they were admittedly rather plain and I felt that since the Silver Gauntlets were found in the Spirit Temple and Golden ones in Ganon's Castle, they might be of ancient Gerudo origin themselves.

Anyway, please leave feedback!

Howling Stone

I was saving this for my 100th deviation!! This was the last picture I made in time for NYAF. I struggled with this one a lot...the castle was really hard to draw so I ended up making it in 3D and painted on top of it. I drew the castle like three times before I gave up and decided to do it 3D. The colors were also really difficult to paint too.

I think the howling scenes are the most beautiful in Twilight Princess, so I wanted to try drawing it.

It's time to get cracking on some serious art, art everywhere! I need a portfolio done in the following year!
Since everyone's back to school, I figure that I really need to get going on some work myself, and at the moment I am trying to pry myself out of a miserable art situation. I seem to be struggling to at least finish anything further than a rushly-shaded sketch! The only exceptions are commission work.

Anyway, I went out to buy a few canvases the other day to propose on getting some traditional work done. I thought that maybe all the work on the computer is just a trap for distractions, and that I needed a bit of a change to wake me up.

My favourite thing to do when painting traditionally is to just paint with red, yellow, blue, white, and black on my palette and go from there. I was originally going to paint something bright and happy, perhaps something from Wind Waker, but I didn't feel like being too clean. Then the rougher feel of Twilight Princess came into mind, and I found an old-ish sketch of Link and Epona and just worked from there.
This series has made up most of my life and still does! I need to devote some more art to it.
I'm thinking of doing some similar ones like this for different games of the Zelda series. If anyone has any suggestions, go ahead!

Devouring With Fire And Flame

I updated this with a render that has improved lighting (I hope) and no aliasing.

I told myself to not get carried away like this again until I had her hair completely ready and rigged for animation, but I just couldn't help myself.

So I again found myself throwing several hours on another render.
But this time it was worth it. It has an epic feel to it that I've never have been able to capture before.

_{I'll be attending Otafest this coming weekend as well as Anime North the weekend after that. I'll also be selling this print at Otakon, Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo, and Ai-Kon.

There is a serious lack of Ganon art on the interwebs these days. Link is a given, and there will always be plenty of him floating around, but Ganon is largely under-appreciated and ever since I set eyes on the man I've been a huge fan. From the very beginning to every installment of the story he shows up in, he appears to have fallen even further into his own insanity, anger and hatred. The longer he hounds Link and Zelda through the ages the more twisted and crazy he becomes. That theme totally jives with me, and I love that they seem to be reborn happily every time and he is stuck with his memories of the past battles plaguing him. I feel kind of bad for the guy, actually. He really got a shit deal. But I guess that's what you get when you're an evil psychopath.

Zelda themed eggs I painted for my flatmate for Easter.

If you break them, a giant flying whale will appear and tell you the last significant part of your life has all been a dream, and you'll awaken on a floating shipwreck somewhere far away. True story.

I'm very hyped for the new Zelda game coming up, even though I'm trying not to. I guess its because this game's gameplay formula is going to be different than the traditional formula for Zelda games, and I hate the fact that Nintendo is being so secretive about it. It's hurtin' ma BRAIN!

Hopefully people won't have to bitch about how the next Zelda is just going to be the same thing again.
Personally, I'm not very picky, but, whatever. It's literally impossible to make every single person happy, so don't expect Nintendo to make everybody happy if it involves having this specific thing that needs to satisfy you.

Anyways, this is a picture about the mysterious character from the Zelda Wii teaser.
(Which is also rumored to be concept art.
.............Don't get your hopes up. I said, "RUMORED", not "CONFIRMED"!)
I took a long time on this one because of college work. I can't always be drawing 24/7. Still I decided to experiment with the colors and I wanted people to offer critique, if you want to, of course. When riding the Spirit Train underwater, you can't help but notice that there isn't really a bottom. Anything could be down there...

This is for the #SpiritTracks-FC's march contest~ There were a number of topics, and I picked the underwater one, even though I generally dislike water.

I hate bubbles now. 8C

There were going to be like, 100x the bubbles in this picture leading your eye down the picture, but I had to piece it together in Paint because the file was too big for Open Canvas.

...
I was kidding about hating bubbles. Mostly. xD
This was fun to work on, really. Even if it was a pain without Photoshop. |D;;;

I must say, Spirit Tracks is the cutest Legend of Zelda game i have ever played. X3 The whole idea is really dumb, but the story was just so adorable. And the musical score was so cute! alkfja;slkaks; i can't help but love it~ >v<
