Here's my second Journal skin attempt for =CypherVisor's Modern Elite CSS Contest. This time, I went for a darker, more gloomy style, making use of some subtle background patterns, minimal and semi-transculent borders for many elements, an elegant ultra-condensed font for the headings, and sections at the top and bottom which look like they're wrapped around the content (hence the name "Wrapped").

In contrast to my other entry, this design is already fully coded and therefore installable, so I'd appreciate if you'd give it a shot! For information regarding the usage of all the included elements, check the instructions below. Enjoy!

Instructions

General note:
Because of the fact that writing a line break in the Journal editor leads to a real HTML line break (<br />), you might have to remove empty line breaks between certain items in your text (between a heading and the following text, for instance) to achieve the right spacing between the elements.

Tenka probably is in the most pictures on my dART, so it made sense to use her for this exercise. Although I probably should have used the same palette for all of them, I felt that an artists' selection of colors is also a marker of their styles. Likewise, I tried changing her outfit and the backgrounds to reflect some of the changes. (So much photo-referencing. v_v)

1) This exercise made me realize how fugly my style is. It's kind of trapped between animesque and realism because I think that drawing noses is so frickin' fun. And for some reason, I don't like to use thick lines for eyelashes.

2) Hiro Mashima, the mangaka for 'Fairy Tail.' His style is fun, but I butchered it. My old-and-crippled Photoshop kinda crashed twice while I was doing it, so I was kind of rage-y when I scribbled this version.

3) Shoujo was sooo hard. Given that the development of my style steadily decreased the size of my characters' eyes, going back to the super-boxy, saccharine-cuteness resulted in some frustration.

4) How obvious is it that I didn't watch enough Disney as a kid?

5) This was pretty fun. It was closer to my style to begin with, and I'm only saying that because I got to draw a nose~. Using no lines (aka, painting) was probably the hardest part.

6) Based my Pokemon design closer to the game art. Not really a fan of the anime. I wanted to draw a version of the sky wallpaper (from the storage system), but I was too lazy to boot up the game and use it as a reference. I also considered a minimalist bg, but again, laziness.

Butchered...it was pretty hard to mimic those awesome brush strokes, and I never really quite hit enough contrast in the hair.

I.
I was kind of in a fanfiction mood when I was doing this, and when I write fanfiction I get myself in the mood to write with music and reference photos, especially when I'm in the process of brainstorming.

II.
This is my currently-playing list! When I play stuff on loop for fanfic-writing, I play the newest-downloaded ones. Right now, it's these: a muddle of songs gleaned from the Gravity of Devotion studio's YouTube videos (which I love to tiny little bits, their Hetero-talia stuff are simply precious), a random CNBLUE cover (I was testing to see if it was fully-downloaded, but alas, it was not), and two Somedaydream songs, which seem to be Hunter's favorite lately. I blame the Cornetto commercials.

III.
Yes, I am aware that I need to clean up. However, in the middle of ~~procrastination~~ other stuff, I never seem to get myself to do so...

IV.
I don't think I have much programs. I know I have Photoshop CS3 (I also have SAI, but have never used it), Ren'py, YouTube Downloader, and two childhood PC games of mine, Battle Realms and NBA Live 2003 (yes, 2003). I also have Chrome, Opera, Realplayer, and DVD Flick.

V.
I wasn't on the Net when I was filling this up, so these are the sites I normally go to. Yes, I do use Chrome, and have had it set to that striped theme ever since I got this laptop. The trollme thing over there is just something I play with, typing random words in, to pass the time.

VI.
What can I say, I wanted to go for a minimalist look for once. But the little touches of fandom are there - the TnB logo, and the SNSD-themed and Japan-themed icons.

My first foray into inking in Macromedia Flash (yes, this was inked before those minimalistic wallpapers)... I wouldn't use it for complex things, but it seems to work well with sparse lines.
