About the Cosplay

Approx. Time to Complete: 3 weeks (approx 30 hours)

Wig from CosplayDNA on ebay, styled by me.

Headband is broadcloth made by me.

Key Crest/Exphere made by me out of hot glue put into a mould, held on with spirit gum.

Shirt is made by me out of twill, but I will be replacing it with an old tank I got at the thrift store because I don't like the way it sits on me.

Vest is lined in purple bridal satin, and the shell is made of pink valour. It is outlined with gold craft ribbon, if I were to redo this, I would use a better ribbon. Made by me.

Gloves made from athletic spandex/cotton blend, the same valour and ribbon used along with gold buttons. They are also made by me.

Pants and belt made by me out of white twill.

Boot covers made out of pleather that has a satin-cotton outside layer, and gold vinyl.

Sword made by *TraumaCentreGrrl and her father.

Sheath for sword made by me out of craft foam and Wonderflex. ]]>

Wig: purchased off ebay seller 'CosplayDNA', cut and styled by *TraumaCentreGrrl while on my head.

Hat + Jacket: self-made, made from blood red bridal satin, jacket lined with typical lining fabric in black, straps on hat are broadcloth. The hat frame is made from needle-point netting and heavy duty interfacing, the same interfacing is also in the top half of the jacket...

Tie: self-made, made from galaxy twill in cardinal red, is approx 8 feet long.

Vest + Pants: self-made, made from galaxy twill in black, both close with snaps and 'false' buttons are on the vest.

Boot Covers: self-made, from vinyl upholstery fabric, these are my first boot covers and I'm not 100% pleased but they will do!

Shirt: bought at Wal-Mart

Gloves + glasses + bloodpacks: made by The Laughing Reaper

Probably the most difficult cosplay I've ever done. I have never cried over a cosplay like I cried over this one. I also bled a bit while sewing lace. I hate hand sewing but it turned out so well so it was all worth it. I bit off more than I could chew but I made it to the finish line, the last Saber standing out of 6.

Originally I had wanted to make the bolero that goes with this dress but due to a lack of time and sanity I settled on just doing the sleeves for now. I'll finish the bolero for another con.

Probably the most difficult cosplay I've ever done. I have never cried over a cosplay like I cried over this one. I also bled a bit while sewing lace. I hate hand sewing but it turned out so well so it was all worth it. I bit off more than I could chew but I made it to the finish line, the last Saber standing out of 6.

Originally I had wanted to make the bolero that goes with this dress but due to a lack of time and sanity I settled on just doing the sleeves for now. I'll finish the bolero for another con.

I was tired of my old music and remembering a conversation with a friend, I decided to listen to some Ella Fitzgerald. It sounds odd to work to jazz but I'm glad that I chose to do so because what I felt in that moment was fireworks. I felt the sun setting and the city lights slowly start to appear. I felt all the guys yelling for cabs to stop and all the boots marching to 12th Avenue & 34 Street. I felt all the all the excitement from people waiting in line at Radio City Music Hall. I felt the rain falling on kids' raincoats & umbrellas. I felt The City. I read a book by Pablo Coelho recently and it said that one must follow their personal story (their destiny) to actually achieve happiness. I don't know the plot or the characters in my story yet, but I am positive about the setting. It's funny what music can do to a person.

I was experimenting a bit with a new method. I'm not sure if I'm going to use it again though.
