It was a dull day at headquarters, so Watari agreed to accompany the three to get a little snack. It was only for this store that L would risk staying outside. Light had no interest in the petite confections, but after much persuasion by Misa, he gave in and had a little devil's food cake.

_{The store is called Cupcakes by Sonja. The store people were so nice. Didn't apprehend us for taking so many pictures even though we're really not allowed to without a permit. Although the fact that our team bought over a dozen cupcakes must have helped. Haha.}

On the topic of this being one of the "Most Popular Deviations of All Time"
You guys, chill out. I don't know why it's up there either, okay? For that reason, it's obviously no use asking me. It's not like I can control the number of views or favorites I receive.

I know this is is far from our best work, but it's been years since we shot this and we've learned a lot more since then.

My friends and I did this because it's something we enjoy, and as a tribute to a series that we love. We shared it here, just like anyone else who has ever submitted a deviation. That's all.

That aside, nobody has the right to deny the worth of someone's work just because they can't see it. I know everyone is free to come up with their own opinions. That's all well and good, but there is no need to pointlessly bring down people who have opinions different from your own. I'm not just defending myself here - I'm speaking for everyone who has had this happen to them.

To those of you who feel the need to insult me, or others like me - Really, posting spiteful comments isn't going to do anyone any good. Whining isn't going to take way the supposed "popularity" you feel I don't deserve - which, keep in mind, I did not ask for or bring upon myself.

Before you use freedom of speech as an excuse, take note that something of equal importance is the sense of common decency. You're certainly not going to change people's minds by making yourself look like a rude, bitter, popularity-crazed prick. You're much better off using your time doing something that's actually productive if you truly care about the community.

TL;DR - deviantART is NOT serious effin' business. It would do you good not to get caught up in pointless negativity.

"stop taking pictures..!!"

ok, remember that interview I talked about recently? Yeah, we decided to spontaneously take a carton of eggs and a marker to the parking lot and see what happened..
The girl who interviewed me was at the time the only one with a camera, so she got to shoot lotsa different pictures of this scenario. But I didn't get to see how they turned out ('cos I was too shy to ask) so I came back later with my sister and my dad's camera.
The funniest part was when my sister and I took those two eggs you see in the background and smashed them as well (I put the glaring one back in the carton, just fer kicks..).

So, yeah, another egg picture..

The "story" behind this one is that one egg got brutally murdered, it was a hit-and-run kinda incident, and I'm guessing the egg lying next to him, crying it's eyes out, was his partner or something. That terrified one wasn't supposed to be covered in yolk/blood, but he fell.. which actually made it more gory in a way... idk
And that one at the front, glaring at'cha, he's the one keeping the paparazzi away, ridding the mourning eggs of unwanted attention.
Sorta..

on the other hand, Mr. Glarealot over there looks kinda accusing rather than threatening, don'tcha think..? Like he's saying "It was you... I just knowit.."

Ok, here is one of the hardest long exposition i did...
located in a church in Ars en Ré, town on the "Ile de Ré" island (see previous shots i submitted)
long exposure 30 seconds, i had to run a lot to avoid getting myself caught in the image.
the lighting was really good inside this church

i hope you like the result, corrected the tone and contrast also...

i had the relative of this idea like yesterday...tonight i was inspired to try it out but it ended up something quite different than what i'd planned (for once an impulse shot )....it just got a lot weirder and bloodier

no manip worth mentioning (unless u consider polishing my teeth worthy), it was overexposed, i added contrast, and a bit of my fav filter.

i have a tongue piercing, and i used fakeblood in the syringe. now how did i get that nasty thing through the hole in my tongue? i'm just really, really good...and maybe stupid...

i love the title, i've been wanting to use it for ages. sorry about the copyright mark, gotta have it nowdays in works like this

i most humbly wish that the audience enjoys this.

Death Note: Walk This Way

Our favorite outtake from our nth Death Note photoshoot. Inspired by The Beatles' iconic Abbey Road album cover, but we weren't really recreating it. Otherwise there wouldn't be five of us and L would have been Paul McCartney with no shoes. Haha!

And yeah, I guess Near and L aren't supposed to have shoes BUT we were in a commercial area and we couldn't risk them stepping on something on the road and possibly hurting their feet whenever we had to run back to the sidewalk when cars would pass by. And don't forget... L wears shoes when he's out - like in the university and while playing tennis.

It took us so many tries to get this shot right... Erving says the focus was insanely difficult. Even though we needed it to be fast, autofocus just wouldn't work so he was on full manual. So we had to keep posing and running away when cars would drive past, while constantly watching out for guards that might apprehend us for taking photos! Hahaha!

Hey, yes I know this has been done a hundred times before on dA, but I just wanted to give it a go and here is my interpretation of a well known concept.

Wow, thankyou one and all, I am totally overwhelmed by the response to this 5000, and 38,000 views in 36 hours!
I wanted to write a response to all your comments and favs but this is just unrealisetic to do individually so thankyou all for your kind words and support.

As I said in the original description, this concept is an old one, I have seen it in non-descript books before and with red filters. We were talking about lighting and depth of field in my photography course I have started so I thought what the heck and had a go at this. I was presently suprised and proud of the results so I put them on my humble gallery (490 PV and 9 watchers). Next morning I had 2,300 favs and this has since increased to where we are now so thankyou for the support. Personally I think the reason for its success was two fold, the lack of peoples knowledge of the concept (that a heart could be made from a circular object) and the interpretations people have drawn from it.

Comments include:
- Wow I didn't know that would happen
- I love how you have placed it next to heartless in the dictionary
- Omg, wow! That's oddly deep for something so simple...
- so boring. you've done nothing different here at all
- Makes me think of divorce, or infedelity...
- I thought it was a wedding band in a bible at first glance. Come to find out it's next to the definition of heartless. Seems like an appropriate photo to share with my ex-fiance
- I think it's beautiful but it also seems very sad to me. ;; Heartless...
- It's so simple but yet so complex. congratulations
- I like how the shadow of the ring forms the heart and the line on the book divides it. it's somewhat haunting.... it shows the feeling of loss and dissapointment of a break-up.
- The use of a ring, like a wedding ring is so thoughtful. You assume it's romantic until you read the book text, nice twist
- In terms of originality, your usage of the particular definitions is admirable, but misleading in terms of the composition; there is a HUGE juxtaoposition between the symbolic "endless love" that is represented by a ring, but, as I know...a ring is just a ring, not love.
- Ring representing the union of love and creating a heart next to the definition of hearltess gives me the impression that someone was dumped by someone they love and calling him or her hearless for doing it. It just makes me think of the conflicting feelings after a breakup that the two parties feel, one heartless and cold the other loving and betrayed. I think the owner of the ring was the one that was dumped and their ring shows how they still feel about the other person, but at the same time is bitter shown by looking up hearless to describe how they think the other person is. Very powerful!

Heh, I'll leave to to your own interpretations, I only take the pics
Hope you all enjoy, and that those of you that don't can understand I haven't ripped this off someone else, I know about the diff variations and attempted something different (to my mind anyway)

Thanks for the overwhelming response to this picture, as a bonus I share some information I usually keep for myself.

This picture was taken freehand, I used my Canon 5D Mark II and my 70-200 2.8 IS USM lens. It was then taken to Lightroom3, I used NIK HDR EFEX Pro (GREAT piece of software) to pull out some more detail in the shadows and to make the steam POP out of the image. Then I applied a bit of color look, thats it. This picture was finished in under five minutes in post production.

They grow in my neighbours garden, the whole garden is full of roses. I desaturated the background to bring out the amazing color of the petals. also the drops add to the whole composition.

I was visiting my boyfriend Øyvind again this weekend (yaaay! <3 ), and his mother (awesome lady) had seen my egg pictures and asked if I could draw a little on their eggs too to play a prank on my boyfriend's kid brother (what did I tell you?), so me and my boyfriend - who I'll refer to as Gatlix from now on as that is his alias on DA and elsewhere _{(or would you mind if I called you Vinnie? :3 )} - grabbed some markers and went to the fridge in like the middle of the night and fetched our unsuspecting victims...

He came up with a lot of neat ideas for the eggs, and he's also the one who took the pictures afterwards, so kudos to Gatlix people! ;D

The eggs are located in separate shelves side by side, so the eggs on the bottom panel would be on the right side and staring down on the eggs in the first panel.
And the pupils of the eggs were drawn so that when Gatlix's kid brother opened the door to the fridge the next morning, they'd be staring straight at him.

Would've loved to see his expression.. ;D

so, yeah, I guess that's it about this picture ^__^

I'm the Alice in this photo, and my bestest best friend Christy (the Ariel) organized her whole Sexy Disney Princess group again.

Britt set up a makeshift photo studio in our hotel room and we were able to get this amazing shot. It took a few tries but I'm so happy with how it turned out. Thank you to Britt and all these wonderful girls.

EDIT: Ok there are a lot of people commenting that we look 'fake', 'emotionless' or we didn't go 'all out' on the faces. Here's the thing - we are caked in stage makeup that we PAID a makeup artist to do. We couldn't risk ruining it at this point since this photo was taken before we went to the convention. If Aurora had covered my face with her arm, my makeup would have gotten all over her sleeve. Same goes for Belle, etc.

I knew there was a cat bus, and a Pikachu car...I even knew there was a Pokémon airplane. But I had yet to see a Pikachu/Pokémon bus until today! It was amazing! I totally want to rent it and roll up to a night club in it. There were only 4 little school kids riding it when it passed by.

I designed and sewed the dress, it was shot before and not inspired by 300 the movie.
There were some 20meters or so of chiffon and tulle, many hours of sewing, unpicking, resewing involved.

Yes, I am aware that Forever Slave ripped this image. I'd already sent a cease and desist but I haven't gone further with the legal proceedings because I just don't have time and money and energy to deal with this right now. I promise I will one day.

Shippuuden: Itadakimasu

Here's a photo from last weekend, when we attended an event as a Naruto: Shippuuden group and went out for dinner afterwards in our costumes. Some kids we ran into actually thought I was the "real" Naruto, hahaha. Awww.

This is the result of my current obsession with Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto artbook, Uzumaki. I've had the scans for a while, but never fully appreciated the illustrations and the thoughts behind them until I got my hands on the actual book.

This shot, as well as my post-processing, was inspired by one of the Uzumaki artbook drawings of Naruto and Iruka having ramen at Ichiraku. I just wanted Team 7 (yes, including both Sasuke and Sai) doing something like bonding over dinner. I miss seeing them like that.

Please pardon the fact that some parts of our costumes are missing (like gloves and Sasuke's bracers). We really were having dinner, and it's rather troublesome to eat with all that stuff on. Here's to hoping that Yamato can join us next time! We'll need backup in case Kakashi gets drunk on sake again!

If you don't like Naruto, cosplay or geeks like us - just close the window or ignore the thumbnail. I'm sure you're capable of that much. Takes a lot less effort than typing up a whole comment about how much you don't like it. Don't stress yourself out with spite. Use your time to do something else, because whatever you say won't change the way we are anyway.

very suzish stuff i think, all the basic elements are there... managed to amuse myself working on this the past couple of hours. it's what happens when u got no life on a sunday morning 6am. i was actually inspired by `mnoo's Lush. we were hanging out 2 nights ago and she said she's gonna take some more 'mouth'photos' soonish. then boom, it's there. i was like wow that's fast. just now i see i've been cheated, the exif info says the photo was taken in october well, anyway, it motivated me to take this one. it's been ages since i shot anything alone like this. another photo that perhaps subconsciously inspired me was *misericordia's Jawbreaker, i saw it some time ago and was like, hey, i haven't done pearls yet!

i got the pearls from H&M on friday. the skin is white thanks to a couple layers of very light make up and shimmer powder. then there's black lipstick and black lipgloss. i think that's it. the reflections reveal the lightning used; one flash with a round softboox.
